To meet Federal requirements, commercial motor vehicles weighing greater than 10,000 lbs. are required to place the warning triangles outside of the vehicle if it is stopped on the shoulder of a highway for any cause other than necessary traffic stops to warn approaching traffic of the presence of a stopped vehicle. Each warning device has instructions for its erection and display.
